27 March 2011 Expanded thought for today.

"A good cowboy knows when to use the whip and when to use the rope. He also knows at the end of the day a strong gentle hand will have the best result."

Proverbs 19:12  (New International Version, ©2011)

12 A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion,
but his favor is like dew on the grass.

Proverbs 3:11-12 (New International Version, ©2011)

11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.

The Bible contains many references to discipline and rebuke. Many of them are harsh in nature. All of them are to correct and grow the children of God.

God wants us to learn that although we have differences. Are views are different. The way we conduct ourselves is different. We still must all focus on Him. It is that focus that will overcome those differences because if we all grow more like Him. We all grow together.

That is why in 1 Corinthians 13:13 he states:

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

It is that love from Him. His gentle hand-that is what we should strive for. Because at the end of the day that is what will carry us on.
